Updated: Georgia GOP’s handpicked PSC “incumbent” gets primaried

UPDATE: Tricia Pridemore has a Republican challenger, John Hitchins III, who repsonded to this post: “Well, she does have an opponent now in the primary. A true Conservative who doesn’t approve of the current Republican way of cozying up with utility companies. One who believes in energy choice and the free market to decide what is best for Georgia citizens. One who has ZERO alligience to big business and will work to end the corporate welfare that the current PSC has established. I may not be known in political circles, I may be a long shot, but I believe it is time to hold these cronies accountable. My name is John Hitchins and I am running for PSC 5th district.” (The Swamp,…

Georgia’s solar-powered John Noel qualifies for Public Service Commission

It’s official: Democrat John Noel of Atlanta plunked down his money and signed the paperwork to run for Georgia Public Service Commission Post 3. His plan: unseat GOP incumbent and Plant Vogtle cheerleader Chuck Eaton. John wants Georgia to move away from “dinosaur thinking and dinosaur fuels” and supply our future energy needs with solar power and other clean, renewable resources. He also will be a voice for consumers, not utility lobbyists–which is what the current commission is all about. Here’s the latest example of a commission that climbed into bed with the utilities a decade ago and hasn’t woken up since. John will face at least one opponent in the May 22 primary, Lindy Miller of Decatur. From his news release: Surrounded…

Prominent gun reform advocate Lucy McBath steps into Georgia’s 6th District race

Democrats Bobby Kaple and Kevin Abel are also vying for the seat. But her entry will liven up things up considerably. It also means Democrats are now looking in a really busy way for a new candidate in HD37, considered one of the state’s most flippable from red to blue. Qualifying ends noon Friday. Just saying.) From today’s AJC report: (McBath) was seen as a formidable challenger to (Rep. Sam) Teasley, a conservative real estate agent…

Sam) Teasley, a conservative real estate agent with an “A” rating from the NRA, when she launched her bid a few months ago. His district is one of a string of suburban Atlanta territories where President Donald Trump struggled in 2016. But she said the…

Trump needs to know: Is AG Jeff Sessions part of Deep State?

Today, on Twitter, Donald Trump strongly (as in all caps) suggests his hand-picked Attorney General, Jeffrey Beauregard Sessions, is a disgrace to his presidency. At this point, a legal question: Can an attorney general be flipped? Or is Trump trying to prove he’s not obstructing justice by being so bad at it?
