Georgia runoff early voter: Old white man

Some notes on early voting in Georgia’s runoff Here’s a handy website: GeorgiaVotes.com that you can check throughout the week. Early voting ends Friday, and the runoff is a week from now, on Dec. 4. I live in DeKalb and try to keep up with the DeKalb Board of Elections. The Board posts early vote totals here, and you can follow the BOE on Twitter @DeKalbVotes. DeKalb County Monday early voters (runoff): 3,341 1st Day General early voters: 5,227 As a rule, DeKalb provides statewide Democratic candidates with their largest margins of any county. In the General, Stacey Abrams beat Brian Kemp by 212K votes in her home county. Fulton, larger but less intensely Blue overall, gave Abrams a 194K margin. These two counties…

GOP incumbent stinks so bad, Tea Party leader endorses Democrat in Georgia PSC runoff

Early voting is underway in Georgia’s statewide runoffs for Secretary of State and Public Service Commission Post 3. Both agencies have suffered from a decade of misrule. It’s our last chance to restore some balance to state government. It’s so out of whack that even conservatives and Libertarians supporting Democrats in these races. The Latest: This comes on the heels of Libertarian PSC candidate Ryan Graham’s announcement that he’s voting for Democrat Lindy Miller, as well. In announcing her decision, Debbie Dooley notes the recent revelation that Georgia Power allies are pumping $750,000 into the race to protect their investment in a bought-off commissioner. And now it’s up to $1 million. From this morning’s AJC Jolt:  Debbie Dooley, a co-founder of the…

Libertarian candidate says he’ll vote for Democrat Lindy Miller in Georgia PSC race

Above: Democrat Lindy Miller faces Republican Chuck Eaton in Public Service Commission in Dec. 4 runoff Campaign update It used to be that Libertarians had mainly Republican tendencies. But here in Georgia, the Secretary of State’s office and the Public Service Commission have gotten so out of whack, the Libertarians are supporting Democrats John Barrow (SoS) and Lindy Miller (PSC) for these posts in the December 4 runoff. Both agencies are abject failures and will only get worse under continued monopoly party control. Electing Democrats to these positions will help provide much-needed checks and balances to state government. These races are tremendously important, affecting your vote and your electric bill. You can vote in the runoff even if you didn’t cast a…

Fran Millar didn’t lose just his seat. He lost Karen Handel’s, too

Lucy McBath and Friends at Tracy Prescott’s House Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Nearly a year and a half after Jon Ossoff’s failed $30 million campaign, Karen Handel  conceded Georgia’s Sixth District Congressional race to Lucy McBath. It is a great victory for Lucy. It is exciting to have her as my representative in Congress. I wrote a few weeks back: “Having transcended a tragedy, she exudes hope and graciousness—in sharp contrast to her opponent, a career politician, uninspiring at best, who believes crying children should be gaveled into order.” But now I concede that Handel is capable of graciousness. “Congratulations to Representative-Elect Lucy McBath and send her only good thoughts and much prayer for the journey that lies ahead for her,” she said in…

Brian Kemp’s stupid stunt: last-minute investigation of Democrats.

Kemp’s rips page from 2016: Last-minute investigations are fun!  Spoiler alert: This is some serious BS coming from the Georgia GOP. It reminds of the Josh McLaurin case, when the State GOP folded like a cheap tent after its false and malicious mailers drew a libel suit. It is late Sunday night–make that early Monday morning—and it’s more important at this crucial hour to get the truth out than to worry about niceties. Figuring it is better to ask forgiveness than permission at his critical hour, I am lifting Rep. Scott Holcomb’s response to a bizarre set of events stemming from the Georgia Secretary of State’s office’s transformation into an operational arm of Brian Kemp’s gubernatorial campaign. If there is any doubt…
