Sorry, Fran. There will be Sunday voting in DeKalb (but Tucker Rec is out)

UPDATE: Download the complete early voting schedule from the DeKalb Board of Elections website. Despite public protest over the proposed shuttering of Tucker Recreation Center as an early voting site, the DeKalb Board of Elections voted today to approve staff’s early voting plan, which included a break away from using the center. So, no advance early voting starting April 30 in Tucker, although Tucker Library will open for voting May 14-18. After discussion, the Board voted 4-0 to approve Director Erica Hamilton’s proposal, which remained unchanged from the staff plan put forward at last month’s meeting. There will be only three advance early voting polling locations opening April 30: Dunwoody Library and the Board’s Memorial Drive offices will keep 7 a.m.-7 p.m.…

Pics of the day: Georgia Senate candidate and Resistance leader Sally Harrell

DeKalb early vote plan cuts out Tucker Rec Center, Northlake Saturday voting

(Originally published March 9, 2018) By Jonathan Grant In today’s meeting, the DeKalb County Board of Elections discussed but did not vote on a staff Early Voting plan for the May 22 primary. The big news: Tucker Rec Center is out as an EV site, and two Saturdays and one Sunday of early voting are proposed. Tucker also comes up short for advanced early voting, since early voting at Tucker Library will be available during the last week of early voting, May 14-18. In addition, there would be no Saturday voting for Tucker. It also looks like the Stonecrest/Lithonia area is getting shortchanged on advanced early voting, with the nearest polls 10-15 miles away. . The Board will approve an early voting…
