Update: As expected, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp did not do the right thing. He let the deadline expire, thereby cancelling a special election and assuring that his appointee will serve more than two years without facing the voters. Check back for more on this. Action item: Call the governor at 404-656-1776 and tell him to appoint a district attorney TODAY so that his home folks can have a voice on the issue in November. But you’ll have to do it soon. By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Deborah Gonzalez saw this coming. On Feb. 5, Western Judicial Circuit District Attorney Ken Mauldin announced his resignation effective February 29, rather than serve out his term to the end of this year. Thanks to a…

Georgia Democrats need to choose the strongest candidate to face David Perdue. Here she is.
Racking up endorsements: Teresa Tomlinson’s supporters include Amabassador Andrew Young, Sen. Max Cleland, Gov. Roy Barnes, Former GA Chief Justice Leah Sears, Hank and Billye Aaron, Former U.S. Rep. Buddy Darden, Atlanta City Council President Felcia Moore, Cathy Woolard, Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis, Former Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson, Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz, and the National Organization of Women PAC, to name a few. Seriously, it’s not even close. Read more By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Teresa Tomlinson has been at this for a while. She’s been working longer than any other candidate to unseat Sen. David Perdue. GOP Georgia Public Service Commissioner trolls Democrats’ coal ash town hall
I looked up “Tool” in the Urban Dictionary. Echols fits every definition except “Kanye West” by Jonathan Grant @Brambleman On the Georgia Public Service Commission, Tim Echols functions largely as a cheerleader for Georgia Power Company and Plant Vogtle. Like every other PSC member—and all statewide officeholders—he’s a Republican. He’s also a proud pro-lifer, Trumpist evangelical, and founder of TeenPact, “a hands-on leadership experience for Christian students,” which gives out the Tim Echols Political Involvement Award and sells Frisbee discs for $12 at its online store. I think his goal is to build a next-gen army of Republican politicians. To top off Georgia’s misfortune, he’s also active on social media and seems to be the most outspoken, loquacious, and insufferable commissioner, by…
