Above: Former U.S. Sen. Max Cleland with Georgia PSC candidate John Noel Big news from a big name in Georgia politics. One of my heroes. I met Max Cleland at a civic-club luncheon when I was the Houston-Peach Bureau chief for the Macon Telegraph in 1981, a few months before I moved to Atlanta with Judy as newlyweds. He was a wonderfully friendly man. I went on to the PSC and saw him maybe a half-dozen times when I worked at the PSC, saw him speak as Secretary of State once or twice. Mary Margaret Oliver, Michele Henson, and Scott Holcomb briefed Lakeside area residents about the 2018 General Assembly session and took time to praise a former colleague now running for State Senate. The three Democratic legislators said that the session had produced some notable successes, notably increased school funding. Oliver said that while the Senate had passed divisive legislation,such as the anti-gay adoption bill, House Speaker David Ralston and other leaders had ensured that the legislation died in the House. It’s Sunday — Vote in DeKalb County today!

Sorry, Fran. There will be Sunday voting in DeKalb (but Tucker Rec is out) This has been a low turnout election, so far. The vote totals the DeKalb Board of Elections posted for Saturday are grim.  But hey, we can vote today!  Check out this resource: DeKalb County Voter Guide. Here’s a list of early voting sites and times: Only Dunwoody Library, the Board of Elections office, and South DeKalb Mall are open for voting today. But this is cool:
