Deborah Gonzalez and democracy win: State Supreme Court rejects Brian Kemp’s election thievery

The will reject democracy.” — David Frum By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman In today’s ruling, the Georgia Supreme Court struck down the law Gov. Brian Kemp used in his attempt to keep former State Rep. Deborah Gonzalez out of the District Attorney’s office in the Western Judicial Circuit. “150,000 people get the right to vote!” a jubilant Gonzalez proclaimed today. This is a big victory not just for the people of Clarke and Oconee counties, but for citizens throughout Georgia. Georgia House candidate Mokah Johnson is the latest Democrat to get slimed by the GOP. Somebody should do something.

First, about those push polls   A “Push Poll” is Not a Legitimate Poll:  A so-called “push poll” is an insidious form of negative campaigning, disguised as a political poll. “Push polls” are not surveys at all, but rather unethical political telemarketing — telephone calls disguised as research that aim to persuade large numbers of voters and affect election outcomes, rather than measure opinions. As governor, Brian Kemp shifts from voter suppression to stealing elections

  Update: As expected, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp did not do the right thing. He let the deadline expire, thereby cancelling a special election and assuring that his appointee will serve more than two years without facing the voters. Check back for more on this. Action item: Call the governor at 404-656-1776 and tell him to appoint a district attorney TODAY so that his home folks can have a voice on the issue in November. But you’ll have to do it soon.
