What GOP senator has to say about Sally Yates

Sally YatesActing Attorney General Sally Yates was fired by President Donald Trump Monday night after she refused to defend his Executive Order on Immigration, which has led to chaos and confusion along with massive protests, widespread condemnation, and swift legal challenges.

Almost unnoticed in the furor, the Trump Administration also abruptly removed Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Daniel Ragsdale from his post.

Lest some attempt to paint Sally Yates as a partisan hack, here are Sen. Johnny Isakson’s (R-GA) floor remarks during her confirmation as Deputy Attorney General (h/t Stacey Godfrey Evans):

“Sally Quillian Yates is a great human being that I have known for almost 40 years. … For 25 years, she has been the lead prosecutor in the northern district of Georgia. She has been an equal opportunity prosecutor — she’s prosecuted Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Olympic park bombers, or anybody that violated the public trust or abused power. She is fair; she is smart; she is intelligent; and as a Georgia Bulldog, she’s what we call a double-dawg. She has her bachelor’s degree and her law degree from the University of Georgia, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia law school. Sally Quillian Yates is a great Georgian and will be a great Deputy U.S. Attorney General of the United States of America.”
