Jonathan Grant @Brambleman The latest outrage I was in the middle of writing another post when this comes into my DMs from my buddy, former State Rep. and PSC candidate John Noel, accompanied by appropriate salty language—a link to an AJC article: Pro-nuclear power group pumps $750,000 into Georgia PSC runoff An “independent committee” funded by a nuclear-power industry group is plowing at least $750,000 into next week’s Public Service Commission runoff in support of incumbent utility regulator Chuck Eaton, an advocate of Georgia Power’s Plant Vogtle project. The group, which was formed the week after the general election, reported receiving the money from a Washington D.C. group called Nuclear Matters, part of the Nuclear Energy Institute. The committee began running ads…
Libertarian candidate says he’ll vote for Democrat Lindy Miller in Georgia PSC race
Above: Democrat Lindy Miller faces Republican Chuck Eaton in Public Service Commission in Dec. 4 runoff Campaign update It used to be that Libertarians had mainly Republican tendencies. But here in Georgia, the Secretary of State’s office and the Public Service Commission have gotten so out of whack, the Libertarians are supporting Democrats John Barrow (SoS) and Lindy Miller (PSC) for these posts in the December 4 runoff. Both agencies are abject failures and will only get worse under continued monopoly party control. Electing Democrats to these positions will help provide much-needed checks and balances to state government. These races are tremendously important, affecting your vote and your electric bill. You can vote in the runoff even if you didn’t cast a…

Stunning difference in Congressional freshman classes for GOP, Democrats
The picture says it all (Hey, look, the GOP has a new white lady Congressperson!), and there’s more to come. And bear in mind the Republicans pictured are almost all replacing Republicans. So are most of the Democrats. It looks like Dems will pick up another 4-5 seats when all the votes are counted in California, Maine, and elsewhere. The GOP may net a couple of seats in the Senate, but Joni Ernst now looks week in Iowa, as does Trump-gumby David Perdue in Georgia. I think the prospects for Dems taking the Senate in 2020 are better than 50-50. From Alex Burns of the New York Times: The 2018 midterm election looked last Tuesday like a serious but not crippling setback…
Fran Millar didn’t lose just his seat. He lost Karen Handel’s, too
Lucy McBath and Friends at Tracy Prescott’s House Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Nearly a year and a half after Jon Ossoff’s failed $30 million campaign, Karen Handel conceded Georgia’s Sixth District Congressional race to Lucy McBath. It is a great victory for Lucy. It is exciting to have her as my representative in Congress. I wrote a few weeks back: “Having transcended a tragedy, she exudes hope and graciousness—in sharp contrast to her opponent, a career politician, uninspiring at best, who believes crying children should be gaveled into order.” But now I concede that Handel is capable of graciousness. “Congratulations to Representative-Elect Lucy McBath and send her only good thoughts and much prayer for the journey that lies ahead for her,” she said in…
