Governing well for cats and dogs: How Teresa Tomlinson’s Save-a-Pet program took Columbus from 80% euthanasia rate to “no kill” status
Above: Teresa Tomlinson, star of many Columbus Save-a-Pet PSAs, with rescue dog up for adoption “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” — Mahatma Gandhi By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman While all seven Democratic candidates seeking to defeat Sen. David Perdue have platforms, more or less, Teresa Tomlinson is running on her record as two-term Mayor of Columbus, Georgia. (She also has more platform, for that matter.) “I’ve governed and I’ve governed well,” she tells would-be supporters and has receipts to back up the claim, including the St. Maurice Award she recently received for her support of Fort Benning and the Infantry. Passionate about…
Former Sen. Max Cleland’s Memorial Day message supports Teresa Tomlinson’s “proven track record of caring for veterans”
Jonathan Grant @Brambleman I received this email this morning and thought I’d share. Sen. Cleland, a wounded Vietnam veteran, former Georgia Secretary of State, and U.S. Senator is one of Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate Teresa Tomlinson’s top endorsers. (She has many.) Tomlinson, the former mayor of Columbus, faces six Democrats in the June 9 Democratic primary. The winner will face GOP incumbent David Perdue Nov. 3. This message is especially poignant, coming today from him. I’m glad I’ve had the chance to meet and talk with Sen. Cleland a handful of times over the past forty years. He’s an exceptional man and an inspiration to Georgians. The title of his memoir: Strong at the Broken Places. Disclosure: I really like Max Cleland.…

Experience counts: Teresa Tomlinson’s record as Columbus mayor gives Democrats their best chance to beat David Perdue
As Columbus mayor, Tomlinson worked to make life better for citizens, soldiers, and veterans By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Unlike her six opponents in the June 9 Democratic U.S. Senate primary, Teresa Tomlinson has a record as an elected official, having served two terms as mayor of Columbus, Georgia. “I governed and I governed well,” she says on the campaign trail, both real and virtual. Coming into office in 2011 while Columbus was still in the throes of the Great Recession, the Emory Law School graduate says her major fiscal achievements were reforming and salvaging the city’s employee insurance and pension plans, thereby putting the city on firm financial footing. She’s also proud of criminal justice reforms she was able to make at…
Teresa Tomlinson warns Democrats: Don’t blow chance to defeat Perdue
By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Teresa Tomlinson likes to tell people, “I’ve won hard-fought elections.” Georgia’s 2020 Senate race is shaping up to be one of those. She’s made a strong case that she’s the candidate to beat Sen. David Perdue, and last weekend, she came out fighting, with an All Points Bulletin that warned of bad consequences for Democrats if Jon Ossoff is the nominee instead of her. Ossoff supporters may think this is an unwarranted attack. But it’s better to think of it as Tough Love from Team Tomlinson to Team Blue. Anyway, it’s not like she hasn’t said it before. Now she’s simply pointing out to everyone that Republicans want Ossoff to be the Democratic nominee. As the Cook Political…
