Update: DeKalb town halls in Brookhaven, Decatur are back on

DeKalb legislators at Tucker Town Hall; Rep. Mary Margaret Oliver speaking UPDATE: Rep. Matthew Wilson and Sen. Elena Parent have stepped up to host the town halls on the SB7 and the ethics referendum that had been pulled from the calendar by DeKalb legislative leadership following last week’s Tucker town hall (to see why that happened, read below). They will proceed as scheduled: October 15, 2019, 6:30-8 PM, Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur October 21, 2019, 6:30-8 PM, Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven Important clarification. Notes from Tucker (Tucker Day is coming)

Let’s Eat! Tucker was lively this evening. The beautification effort is really paying off. People want to visit Main Street, and that was SOOOO not the case for many years.  Eight pedestrians in the crosswalk/ When has that ever happened before? I’ll take more pictures Saturday. The Old Boys were going at it strong in Matthews Cafeteria, playing folk-country, or country-folk. I’ve seen them 15 strong, playing hootenanny out on the sidewalk on a brisk February Night. Sounded more bluegrassy then, but it’s all unplugged anyway. Matthews was busy. The put those tables out there, rarely does anyone sit outside to eat there, at least not while I’m there. Maybe lunch is different. Had to go with the Fried Chicken tonight with…

No Problem: Tucker Rec Center CAN be used for Early Voting in #GA06

Update on Early Voting in DeKalb Tucker Rec Center IS Available as #GA06 Early Voting Site   Backround: DeKalb County is considering adding Early Voting sites for the Sixth District runoff. Citizens have called for Tucker Rec Center to be added, along with Chamblee Civic Center.  Current policy only allows one early voting site, at Memorial Drive, several miles outside the district.  While it may not be the intent, the effect was voter suppression. Using Tucker would open up Early Voting to tens of thousands of people in the Southeast section of the Sixth. The Board is waiting until its May 11 meeting to to decide. Early voting starts May 30.
