AME Bishop Reginald Jackson, leader in movement to pass hate crimes bill, endorses Teresa Tomlinson for Senate

Bishop sets news conference in Brunswick on hate-crimes law  By Jonathan Grant @Barmbleman Teresa Tomlinson’s surging U.S. Senate campaign received another big boost Monday with the endorsement of A.M.E. Bishop Reginald T. Jackson, who presides over more than 500 African Methodist Episcopal churches in Georgia. Jackson said, “Tomlinson possesses integrity, empathy, courage, and a heart for the people.” A former two-term mayor of Columbus, Tomlinson has lapped the Democrat field in gaining support from elected officials as well as community and civil rights leaders. She has twice as many endorsements as her major competitor, onetime Congressional candidate Jon Ossoff, and more than the other six Democrats in the race combined. She is also leading Democrats in in-state donations, with a $400K edge…

Vernon Jones isn’t happy with my coverage of him. Here’s some more.

If he isn’t eligible to run in District 91, how can he keep his House seat? Did Jones duck the issue when he quit the race? Jonathan Grant @Brambleman So this happened. I just got a comment on most recent post about Rep. Vernon Jones from the man himself. In the comment section of “Man overboard! In midst of residence challenge, Georgia Rep. Vernon Jones jumps to Trump,“ Jones wrote: To the author of this fake news, there are So many errors in your story. It’s called reckless journalism. For example, (c)all Robin McDonald and ask if my Buckhead address was in DeKalb or Fulton county? Unless you are not to lazy to check for yourself! You are just part of…

Teresa Tomlinson’s home state advantage: $400K more in-state money, 3 times as many Georgia donors as Jon Ossoff

Teresa Tomlinson has the floor at January Democratic candidate forum in Dunwoody By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Jon Ossoff has been using a bagful of cash and the endorsement of one man, Rep. John Lewis, in an attempt to convince people that he’s the inevitable Democratic nominee to face Sen. David Perdue in November. It’s the tactic he used to muscle his way to the front of the line among Democrats in the 2017 Sixth Congressional District special election. That year, the strategy worked–up to the jungle primary, at least. After spending more than $30 million—while refusing to live in the district–Ossoff lost the runoff to Karen Handel. A year later, Democratic gun-reform advocate Lucy McBath beat the pedestrian Trumpist Handel by a…

Teresa Tomlinson on Mother’s Day and leaving a legacy

By Jonathan Grant @Brambleman Teresa Tomlinson loves her mama and sent out a Mother’s Day video to celebrate that fact. She invokes Dianne Pike’s hardscrabble roots and climb up from South Georgia poverty as essential to her own success as an attorney, mayor of Columbus, and U.S. Senate candidate. In fact, Tomlinson’s campaign is a family affair: Her mother makes frequent appearances at campaign events and sister Tonya oversees the yard sign operations and rallies to her cause on social media, among other things. For  more on her campaign to “Send Perdue Packing,” click here. Teresa Tomlinson doesn’t have children of her own. That became an issue during an odd moment during last Sunday’s Senate debate when another candidate pointed that out,…
